Hi! I'm Maggie and I live on Turtle Island

in introduceyourself •  8 years ago  (edited)

Hello, Steemit! I'm a 27 year old biologist and naturalist. I live on and curate a 500 acre conservation property on the east coast of the US. Our most charismatic visitors are the loggerhead sea turtles that lay thousands of eggs along our dunes, keeping us quite busy May through October. It's never boring on turtle island, though. Even in the winter there are plants and wildlife to see and landscapes to explore. One never knows what each sunrise will bring.

Welcome to Steemit:)

Thank you so much!

Welcome to Steemit! You may want to update this post with a pic of yourself that shows your username, the date, and a "hi steemit!" Upvoted and followed. Sounds like you may have some really interesting content !

Just so you know, you have to host your own images and then copy the link to post in the body of the blog. imgur.com and steemimg.com are two good ones. You will have to copy the "markdown link" and sometimes you may have to delete [imgur] and [img] brackets around the link. There's plenty of posts that have better details on hosting and posting images to blogs on steemit! Just use the eye glass google search at the top of the page to search for those walkthroughs.

Thank you so much! I'm sitting here trying to figure out the images! I'm new to this, but I hope once I get the hang of it I'll be able to share some fun content!

Yeah when we post on here it can be frustrating when you are new because we are so used to FB and Twitter just uploading the image. Hopefully in the future it will be that simple.

Maybe this will help for imgur.com

You can see where I uploaded the pic, hover over the pic on the top right and click get share links, select the markdown links for reddit, when you post to blog, you can see the two links and where i deleted the [imgur]( and the ). You may not have to delete that.. but i do for my images to show.

So really it's only going to show the link without the deleted outsides. Not 2 links :) Confusing but I hope this helps. If you get a pic posted to this blog, I'll resteem you. Your introduction posts will do much better proving you are real :)

Wow, thank you! Very helpful!

No problem.. hope it's more helpful than confusing lol. If you want to repay me, just simply follow me and check out my most recent posts! We all need the upvotes.

I think you'll find while steemit is in beta and can be confusing on some things, there are a lot of helpful posts and people on the platform. You can also check out https://steemit.chat for help.

You are welcome. Have a great day! \o/

Hello @turtleisland, welcome to Steemit! :-)
Adding a picture to your post could make it more appealing and drive some more attention.
( I used my cat for that ;-) )
