tayga, collider, poker, old books, contemporary art, etc. -- hello, steemeans!

Hello! I'm Alexey, 34 y.o., from Siberia. When people hear this word, they could think: oh, so cold. But the fact is that it's the hottest place in Russia just now, on summer.

Hello everybody!

Just now I'm doing computers' maintenance in hospital and try to learn some languages. In free time I like also to play poker with eggheads from Academgorodok (science center), to learn programming and read wikipedia, drink bad wine and craft beer, to hunt for my preferable clothing brands in ebay, to walk in 'old center' of the city for hanging out with buddies and in future I want to have a corgi puppy.

A lot of time in my life I worked as journalist in newspapers and news sites of our city Novosibirsk. It's a good occupation for young person and I believe everyone would do well with it. This is really amazing feeling when you catch some interesting news and running to editorial office.

But before I studied laser and nuclear physics in university -- and we had a practice in Academgorodok (town of academicians). This district of our city is constructed in early 60's, time of huge enthusiasm in soviet science, and located in the middle of the forest -- there are a lot of pines, squirrels, plants and first of all -- Ob Sea, really big artificial pond which called 'sea' by locals. I think it's the best way to doing science: living in the forest near the sea, visiting university and make all these things of students. And yes, here in tayga we have a real collider, I will describe it later in my blog.

In free time I like to see movies in our little movie house called "Cinema". This is really cool place: they haven't money for buying Hollywood movies, so they show old good movies on wide screen. Where else would I see it yet? And in addition they give to audience a small comment about every movie in the beginning of seance instead of advertising. In fact I can call this place my own 'movie university', exactly here a lot time ago I've understand that movies are not only entertainment for eating popcorn. Btw, there are not selling popcorn. My favorite movies just now are: estonian 'Class', 'In Brugges', old americans comedies, soviet movies, arthouse, and of course hollywoodian and all american movies of 80-90's -- this is our childhood, really:)

Also I love to visit exhibitions of contemporary atrists -- there are a lot of in our city. Usually they create strange things, but in fact they are good people and this is not so boring for pastime in province. In fact I'm not a big fun of painters. I see art in our world as a form of philosophy, so artist must be a thinker first of all. His art must be shocking, and I need to receive new ideas from art works. So I prefer actionism and await another unexpected things from artists -- installations, interventions in the urban environment, smth called 'artistic gesture'. Here in our city we have a company of insteresting young artists, which not only can paint, but also think different (c). I really appreciate it. I'll write something about them in future here in my blog.

I really like to learn languages, especially with non-latin or non-cyrillic alphabeths. It's a real pleasure to study about new writing system, and trying to draw out all new letters, and to understand that it's real langugage people speaking with. That is why I don't know english well -- I permanently distracted to another languages (so I know a lot, but not deep, of course). Not so long time ago I've calculated, that I can recognize about 25 writing systems, with pronunciations of every sign. Course not for chinese, heh. In fact I'd want to speak well about 5-7 languages, for real conversation with native speakers. I think only this way helps me to know more about cultures of, for example, English, Ireland, Sweden, Indian etc.

(isn't it just cool and hard to understand?)

Btw, this is an origin of loving such a cool things as calligraphy and typographic fonts. Oh, I have a big collection on my computer, and hope someday I will able to create my own fonts. But just now I'm sooo lazy for this.

As for politics -- I don't know how it is in Europe or USA, but in our country this is very important theme, and in fact it goes much farther then just reading political news, it's ethical issues. Everyone must decide here: which side to take, whom to support, what to do when shit happens, etc. As for me I try to understand motivations of different political movements, trying to communicate with its members -- we have here a lot of them, liberals (right and left), nazi, commie, feminists, conservatives, stalinists, libertarians... Russia have a great experience in various political regimes for the last hundred years, and it means a big diversity of opinions in every group of people (which of course are suppressed by the authorities).

Uff, politics off: what about music? I think it's much meaningful for every person. I like maybe a bit of rock and good pop music, not a big fan of rap (but cool melody drive me crazy), and I like a lot russian punk and rock of 80-90's. Just now it's not an youth issue, but we, 30-40-years-old, like it. The punk in Russia divide in two flows: sex-pistols-style, when you try to look out like a Rotten or Vicious, and hmmmm usual-style, when you can wear a tipical clothes, but make strong emphasis on texts. There is an whole musical direction of so-called 'siberian punk', made by poets, not hooligans-on-scene. There are always in my playlist The Clash, The Ramones, The Troggs, The Slade.
when I feel nostalgie for good old times -- I listen to Roxette, Joe Cocker and another singers of 90's.
when I feel melancholy -- listen to Tiger Lillies, The Oasis, The Pixies,
when I want to have fan -- it's time for eurodance (smth about Solid Base etc.), Torpedo Boyz and Yum!Yum!Orange.
Also of course I respest The Blockheads, G.G. Allin, and especially The Meteors.
Try to deal with '1001 albums', but it's not easy; hope one day I'll read it till end.

And my hobby is to collect old soviet books. Of course not very old and expensive -- I'm not a millionaire. But just now I cannot find out in book shops really interesting books, so my choice are -- book-breaks, bookcrossing, secondhand and antiquarian bookshops. I really feel happiness when I get for example old non-fiction books about astronomy (just now you cannot take it in ordinary russian bookshop), or comics-book with drawings of old soviet painters, or russian tales on swedish, or calligraphy books, or first issue of Lenin's 'State and revolution', or 'Cycloid' -- popular book about the only mathematical function (can you imagine such a book on the bookshelf in modern shop?). I understand it's not a real, professional book collecting, but I like to form my own home library this way.

So, I'm going to write here in my blog about all these things, using very bad english, so if you can deal with it -- you are welcome! Feel free to comment and add me to your feed.

Cheers!
