I just have no interest in cooking. I am not exactly starving or lacking in nutrition because my live-in partner loves to cook and I have to remind her almost daily that I do NOT like fancy, rich food. The mainstay for me is rice, peas, kale, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and a slice of the really wonderful veggie quiches she makes. We are both vegetarians, fortunately, or we probably would not get along well.
My weakness in the food category is dark chocolate. I have to ration it to such small servings it's easier to just do without; which is what I do. I love it but my ulcer does not, and it has the deciding vote.
BTW, this has to be a record-setting thread! It's nested about 40 levels deep.
Because I like chatting with you, Bitsy!
Oh, great! She sure is there to cover that cooking part...😀I have tried cutting out meat and other animal products from my diet for the longest time, but it just doesn't work for me... I guess i am just so uses to it. Actually, its super hard to be vegetarian here...😂😂. You both being vegetarian must have helped out alot!
I am okay with peas, rice, potatoes, onions and tomatoes but not kale.... Sadly, onions always make me cry...😀 but I still do use them anyways...
Dark chocolate has never been my pick, really... Yeah, does things tend to win sometimes. I really do hope that nothing is gonna keep me from my favorite snack someday...😀
Hahahah! Are we the first to reach that? Wow! Well, these things are hardly ever noticed😀! I sure do like to chat with you too, never a dull moment..😊

Giving up dead animal parts from my diet was easy. We discussed it during dinner when the subject came up and I related to my wife an incident that happened during the Vietnam War. I had been thinking about it for a long time and decided it was against my moral beliefs. We both agreed we could do without meat and we just stopped eating it. That was our last time, back in early 1972. We do eat eggs, but they are not fertile and do not deprive anything of life.
Being a vegetarian is not all that easy here, either. People think I'm a bit crazy, but I feel pretty strongly about their lack of awareness, too, so we're even. I don't think much about it any more and I have never regretted the decision. I don't mention it to others, but prefer not to eat with them when they have a piece of burned animal body on their plate. (See how subtly obnoxious I can be!)
My favorite food has always been a layered chocolate cake Mom used to make. That was pure Heaven for me! As I got older, my body became less tolerant of chocolate but I still ate the cake when Mom made one when I was visiting. I loved it but was suffering terribly with a painful ulcer by the time I returned home. I has been years, but I still miss that magic cake!

Since 1972? Wow! That's a really long journey... It's amazing how you both were able to agree on that easily...
Once I said I wasn't gonna eat meat and my Mum kept asking if I was sick, if my teeth had issues😂😂 I was about 16 and it wasn't because I wanted to be vegetarian then, I just didn't feel like it that day. Now she knows better, and is actually thinking of eliminating meat too from her diet (little progress so far😂😅, told you its hard here)
Hahahhah! Yeah, yeah... I see that! Well, I will want to go vegan instead of vegetarian, really (maybe even full raw) haah! That's really extreme... I just can't!!
You didn't get to collect the recipe for your wife? She could make it for you guys once in a while (well, if you are able to endure the pains that come with that)

The advantage of giving up meat is that your body chemistry changes over the first month and veggies begin to taste better. It's like going from listening to music on a radio to hearing it on a good hifi system!
We have tried the chocolate cake but the magic of it being made by Mom was gone and the ulcer pain was not, so I gave it up as one of those things best left in my past.
Busy busy today with outdoor chores. Had to go pick up the riding mower from the repair shop this morning and I have nine more fence posts to set and then enclose the new garden area with wire to (hopefully) keep the deer out. When that's done, I still have a lot of litter left by the hurricane last Thursday that I have to collect and burn.
BTW, do you know how easy it is to put a Steemit post on weku? You can have two things working for you with minimal effort. AND there will likely be a pre-sale of the weku tokens to existing members in November! It's a chance to get "big time" in weku!

Aaah.... Really? Well, maybe someday I will go for it😊
It must have been a busy and tiring day for you. You were affected by the hurricane too? I am glad you are okay... You still are strong for you age (dunno how old you are but I am guessing you are not young at all😃), maybe your diet contributes to this?
I reposted my #introduceyourself post today. I think its not too bad, maybe I will hold on to it? I really don't know...

Congratulations, Bitsy! You are the first person to ever say that to me!
Yes, I was busy and tired. I bought and loaded 20, 40 pound posts and ten 80 pound bags of concrete mix into my truck, brought them home and unloaded them and then dug seven holes, carried the posts and cement bags to the garden, and dug holes and set seven posts in concrete. That's picking up almost 2,000 pounds over the course of about five hours. At least the hard part is done. We got 200 feet of welded fence wire yesterday and I have more posts to set tomorrow and then to bury a water line to irrigate the garden. After that, I can put the wire up, and build a door.
Working out a peace treaty with the deer would be easier, but they don't negotiate too well.
I still have LOTS of broken limbs and debris to move and burn and the trunks of three trees that must be cut up and stacked out of the way. The little Carolina Wrens love using the decaying wood as their restaurants!
I'm sure there was more...

Wow! There is a whole lot for you to do tomorrow. Do you have someone to help you out over there?
Peace treaty with the bears? Hahahahah! Well, you can atleast try since its the easier option...

Nope, I do everything myself. Swan is only 5 feet and is too small to do the heavy work. She takes care of the food while i do the dirty work. This afternoon, she did burn three large piles of debris I had collected and that helped a lot. I don't mind the work. When I finish, I can look at the job and have something to show for my time.
Did you ever try to negotiate with a deer? Easier option? HA!
There may be photos when I get time for that kind of thing.
