Welcome @prettydecent! That's so interesting that you are on a "break" from typical social media right now... I totally understand what you mean about it having the potential to turn into a black hole of negativity.... I have actually never been on social media except for starting here on Steemit a few months ago, so it's all kinda new to me. I had a few reasons for staying away from Facebook, Instagram, et cetera, but avoiding drama and negativity was definitely high on my list!
