Hello, it's Ya Boi Dagg, Full-Time Blogger & Down-Time Musician!

Hello, Steemit community. I'm Dagg (ya boi!).

The Early Days

As a left-brained, science and technology-oriented guy in his early 30's, I grew up in the early days of this technology boom so many of us are embracing as careers and hobbies. From the Atari and original NES to 14.4 kbps dial-up modems and Windows 3.1, I remember it all. The days of sitting in the pitch black of my parents basement, tying up the phone line, playing Doom on 3.5" floppy disks, and learning WYSIWYG web design editors (oh, Geocities) have long passed.

That's not one of my sites but it might as well have been. My old sites were about Aliens and UFO's and even one on Ranma 1/2.

Fast-Forward to 2017

Despite the pressures (and caving in to them a bit) from parents, grandparents, and friends, I did end up working full time doing what I was destined to do. After college, I bailed on the career of my degree and went right back to where I was, which was making websites and music and basically anything related to computers and coding. I worked odd jobs here and there that didn't drain my brain so in my off-time I could work on my own projects.

For the longest time I was building websites and trying to rank them and all of that and just couldn't make it work. I found that I was better off servicing people doing that type of work than doing the work itself. That led to me becoming a freelance writer and ultimately landed me a ton of gigs around the net blogging on topics I know all about. I write for sites about blogging, web design, recording and mixing music, guitar, video games, and some other "fill in the gaps" topics too.

But I'm still thirsty for finding success with my own projects. I started getting into crypto-coins more recently which led me here. The allure of earning coin while blogging sounds like a blast. I failed myself though. I can remember brushing off Bitcoin like "eh, whatever" when it was around $0.15 per coin. And look at me now, still an absurdly late adopter. I'm one of those old people yelling at the new kids to get off my lawn and to quit changing my safe and comfortable world.

My Goal on Steemit

Part of the reason I like working for others and having my own separate projects is that separating money from hobbies keeps the hobbies fun. So while yes, I do want to experiment with the currency here on Steemit, I don't want it to be the focus. I just want to blog about what I enjoy and see how the community responds. If you guys like a certain topic I'll definitely cater to you for the good of the community, but you'll have to tolerate me going off the mark sometimes too, because I have a lot of weird interests.

I want to post as frequently as I can but I usually blow my wad during working hours as far as spilling all my ideas out there. I won't treat this as leftovers though. I just can't promise a regular posting schedule.

Anyways, give me a follow if it sounds good and let me know how I'm doing as my content rolls by on your feed. Thanks a ton.
