Why I started engaging in social media - my manifesto

in introduction •  8 years ago  (edited)

I hate social media. For me it is a tool to show others who you are not, in an attempt to make yourself feel better and others worse. The only good thing it has is that you can share ideas. But what are those worth if censorship is omni-present and caters the elite?
In high-school I hated reading George Orwell's 1984. It was the most boring and annoying book I have had to read. But throughout the years I encountered more and more similarities with the world we are living in. It is shocking. It is probably the best book I have ever read.
What can you do when governments silent individuals. When people in charge can do what they want to get more power. And democracy is overshadowed by capitalism? Shout louder, or at least shout.

I decided to stop hating social media, and shout out what I am standing for. What is it worth to just be telling my kids how things are while many other easily over-shout my whispering?
