my post for today will be talking about the dreadlocks hairstyle which is common among the Rastafarians....
Dreadlocks And True Rastafarian
there are usually some various discussions concerning the popular hairstyle which is named“dreadlocks”..........according to the research i made i actually discovered that more than eighty percentage of the jamaicans who are on the dreadlocks hairstyle actually love to term or call themselves Rastafarian, but the fact is that there are some of them who are actually not true Rastafarians.
many reasons why some jamaican men decided to wear the dreadlocks and refer to themselves as a Rastafarian is because it sometimes give them the actual ability to be able to really use the ganja via the religious justification defense and also the monetary benefits which they could get from it...
there are some jamaican men who now see Rastafari as an actual way for them to be able to really get out of poverty or also see it as a way to be able to actually migrate to any other country with so much better opportunities...and this has led to some form of Stereotyping which has caused every individuals with dreadlocks to be seen or let me say to be viewed as a Rastafarian...........
But the fact is that someone who is A true Rastafarian will be peace loving, such individual will be kind, the individual will also be very Afro centric and the individual will be someone who will actually shun all types of “schemes” which are popularly used for the monetary gains........
where dreadlocks started from.....
according to my research i got to find out that Dreadlocks were not actually started by the Rastafarians or jamaicans as many people like me actually believed before now, dreadlocks hairstyle was confirmed to have originated in africa and it was said that the dreadlocks was an hairstyle that was done by various tribes in the african continent, and the first set of tribe to do the dreadlocks hairstyle was those who are called the "Masai tribesmen of Kenya"...it was said that many of those warriors of this tribe love to wear the hairstyle......also these "Masai tribesmen of Kenya" sometimes do like to ensure that they dye their hair in a red colour with some actual root extracts..
when Dreadlocks started in Jamaica
i got to find out that The first time that dreadlocks hairstyle appeared in Jamaica was actually during the post emancipation which happened many years ago...it was said that the dreadlocks hairstyle then in jamaica was a type of means of defiance that was used by the ex-slaves to be able to actually rebel against the Euro-centrism which was said to be forced on them during that time....
when the dreadlocks hairstyle first came to jamaica,"dreadlocks"was called "dreadful" by those who were the Euro centric Jamaican society.... then after the name later evolved to what is now popularly called "dreadlocks".....
Dreadlocks and its relationship with the Rastafari
the reason why it seems that Rastafarians do love to always grow their hair into dreadlocks is actually because growing dreadlocks is part of what the Rastafarians call the " Nazarite Vow".... then i also realized that their dietary rules is also confirmed to be part of the law.......it is said that anyone who is actually a Rastafariand will take this vow called "nazarite vow"and the Rastafarian confidently claimed that the nazarite vow was first commanded by the bible and where it was commanded in the bible is (Leviticus 21:5 “.......what that part of the bible says is that "They shall not actually make baldness upon their head, and neither shall they also shave off the actual corner of their beard nor do make any kind of cuttings in their flesh”)........and that is why a true Rastafarian will not go bald........
the man named "Samson"in the bible is believed to also be a Nazarite with long dreadlocks....and that is why we have Rastafarians who now totally believe that they are like Samson in the bible and their hair is their strength and it will become their actual weakness if they make any attempt to cut it off..... ,
because of this beliefs by rastafarian, during their early times in jamaica they got some kind of intimidation whereby they would be actually arrested and their dreadlocks will actually be cut off and because the rastafarians do not want this to happen, many of them at that time quickly ensure they move into so many isolated areas in jamaica at that time......
DreadLOCKS....the locks attached to "dread"to make it "dreadlocks" actually mean something,, dreadlocks is a symbol for the mane(locks)of the lion which was said to be present in the lion of judah according to what was written in the bible.... mane(locks)is also a type of title which was said to be given to all the Ethiopian Kings.....
historically it was said that emperor Haile Selassie in ethopia loved lions alot and he usually keeps them as pet..... we all know that The lion is seen as a powerful animal and he is the king of the jungle......some Rastafarians even refer to themselves as the lion.....

I think dreadlocks is associated with Bob Marley, he made it popular, the same way rock music goes with rugged and stoned jeans and some wacky hair.
