Truth is One, its garments many. My name is Kerwin and I have been running Holistic Mystics; a spiritual community/school for some time. One of our followers turned me on to steemit, so I look forward to connecting with other spiritual seekers out there. Holistic Mystics focuses on the essential teachings and methods that are hidden within virtually all great Spiritual and Mystery Traditions. This means we concentrate on sharing actual methods of attainment and a lucid understanding of the "Why", behind the practices.

Astrology

Since the dawn of human history​, mankind has looked up at the night sky with awe and wonder. The cosmos was considered the macrocosm, and its cycles and movements played a role in the unfolding of reality. Astrology was considered the science of the sages, and the term astrologer in ancient times was synonymous with "wise". With an understanding of the influence the cosmos has, they were able to predict events. For example one of the most celebrated astrologers, Nostradamus, had predicted the untimely death of the French King Henry II in a jousting accident. Mystics however, would use the timing of the cosmos to perform religious ceremonies and operations of Magic during astrologically auspicious times.

Magic

In the ancient world, Magic was the science and art of the High Priests. Traditionally it was broken into two branches of the One Tree. Theurgy is the practice of Magic in order to invoke, evoke or otherwise communicate with the varying degrees of divine and spiritual entities. Thaumaturgy is the practice of Magic in order to create change in accordance with one's Will. Although these are often seen as High Magic and Low Magic respectively, in truth it is really a matter of order. By Theurgy the Magus would learn their Purpose by attaining what is now commonly known as "Knowledge and Conversation with the Holy Guardian Angel". Once this has been made known, the practice of Thaumaturgy was used to bring that Purpose into fruition.
