Preface: First off, I just wanna mention how the fvck I got here. I was first introduced to Bitcoin and the crypto-world this past December 2017 so you can say I'm a part of that big waaaave (shout-out my barber!).
Initially, I was drawn in by the money and gains, but then I started watching more docs, tutorials, TED Talk videos, & crypto news, and then became somewhat obsessed. I'll admit; I'm still a n00b but I'm ever so intrigued by blockchain technology now and how it can solve/modernize real world problems in traditional industries. Anyways, I kept reading more about certain alt coins and then landed on this video from a crypto-influencer whom I believe is really un-biased & fair with his feedback.
Check it out: The Steem Video by Louis Thomas
Since then I read more about the platform, decided to join, and am now a happy member of the Steemit community ✌️
Who am I and what am I doing here?
My name is Jason but you can call me j_tek. I'm a big music enthusiast with a knack for understanding & listening to all kinds of music (except for mainstream EDM or Country - they just don't do it for my ears, feel me?). Ever since I was a kid, music has always been a big influence in my life. Whenever I was in a rut or some shit happened, music would always be there for me by providing beats to put me in the right mood or conscious lyrics when I needed to hear it most. Through the good n bad, the highs n lows, the ignorant n mellow times, music has consistently been there for me; and I've always listened.
My goal for using Steemit is to share with you all my random music thoughts, show you what I'm listening to, and document certain concerts I get into. Don't worry I'm not a fuckboy or sheep that re-iterate what those hypebeast blogs to tell me what's cool; fux that. Although I do like nice sneakers... ;)
I'll also be sharing other things I'm into but I'll start with music for now.
No matter where I'm at, I'll never forget where I came from: The Bay Area (aka the land of the Hyphy)
Now, I didn't grow up in any ghetto area; I was actually raised in a really nice suburban neighborhood which I'm super grateful for. The good here is that I didn't experience much violence, had a fairly normal childhood, and didn't have to worry about much except for how I was going to get some quarters to go play arcade games. Although we can all make the case that high school was painful because all kids were just brats & bullys, ya know? I would say the bad here with being raised in a suburban environment is that, personally, it took me a while to really grow up and become independent. I didn't have much street-smarts, and I also had a strong sense of entitlement which I didn't really work for either. Reflecting back on my childhood, I always thought I was so mature and had my shit figured out, but in reality I was "young, dumb, and broke" (Khalid reference).
From that, I decided I needed to leave my hometown after I finished college and start a new life away from my parents. I couldn't really grow by staying home, and felt the need to get out of my comfort zone & learn my own life lessons.
Welcome to Los Angeles where it's always sunny
I know I'm jumping around my life story right now, but in due time when I feel comfortable sharing more then you'll be able to piece this shit together. Anyways, I left the bay and moved down to LA about 10 or so years ago, and have been living here since then.
BIG NOTE: Don't get me wrong though; my heart's still in the bay so don't ever call me a Lakers or Rams fan (WARRIORS & NINERS ALL THE WAY!).
I never thought I had a chance to work in the music industry because of how competitive and cut-throat the industry is, but since I was in LA I eventually gave it a shot. Somehow-someway I was lucky enough to work my way into the music industry which is where I still work in today. It was a long journey to get here as I had to pay my dues working for an assistant's salary despite my skills & experiences, struggled through some bad leadership, and overextended myself for the wrong people. Through thick & thin, the struggle actually helped me become a stronger human being and I'm now finally at a good-point in my career & my mental. Now, it's time for my real story to begin.
And thank you for listening.
Great pics, welcome to steemit. I love taking pictures and talking about life. Take a look at my profile, would love to get your views @diljeetdil. Thank you x
