You never forget your first time

I'm sure you all remember your first post...

Not sure what to say, nervous..bit clammy, will they like me? Did I put on deodorant? Does that even matter... What is this place that none of my friends or family understand? Is crypto magic money? Am I smart enough to be here?

Anyone?

Okay... well- that's what I'm feeling! First date feels (with a basic understanding that crypto is not magic...but I do like magic)

I'm Katelyn- I'm a performing artist. I try not to take myself to seriously I love to laugh and bring that to my acting and writing. Oh and I also dangle really high in the air and do crazy drops and stunts as a circus artist. It's funny how I'd rather fling my body through the air than write a blog post at this moment but If there's anything I've learned as an actor and aerialist- if it doesn't scare you, if it doesn't challenge you, it sure as hell isn't going to grow you.

I've been looking for an outlet like this for a while. STEEMIT feels fresh. It feels full of possibility and a place where I can grow and be creative. The wide range of articles and information, the cross pollination of cultures and ideas is exciting and heck yes if I can make a little money and better understand the world of crypto currencies and be apart of this cool community!

For me current blogs/social media platforms are losing their authenticity and many are starting to really reek of insecurity and desperation.

Social media is becoming so over saturated with "influencers" posting generic, multi filtered photos who buy followers and who are trying to fit into a box and are determine their self worth and value by the number of likes and followers. People have profiles and accounts that are all about self promotion and while that is a great perk of social media, if you're the one running it... I think it can make ya a little bit crazy, a lotta lot insecure and 100% addicted to your devices. It's not healthy to look at your face so closely every day, to filter it and then to write about how awesome you are because you feel pressure from how great other people's lives are. And people who are pretending they're not trying to make money or get free stuff.... c'mon.

It's cool to wanna make money and have your voice heard. But how can we do it with authenticity, integrity and without taking ourselves to seriously? That's what I'm interested in.

My wish as I dive into Steemit is to bring myself as authentically as possible. My life truly is a circus, I never know what each day will bring and that's what I love about it and hope to share that roller coaster ride here. Not every post will be perfect, but it'll come from the heart and and I truly hope I can make you smile, share the cool stuff I'm working on and grow in this thriving community.

Hello lifesacircus! Welcome to Steemit! Hope you'll like the community here. As a start, here are 5 tips that we believe will be helpful to you:

  1. Keep your passwords safe: Unlike conventional sites, Steemit has 4 types of passwords. Each offers varying degrees of access to your account, so know where and when to use each of them. Also, make sure to keep them all safe and secure.
  2. Get Steem rewards: When writing a post, you'll have the option to choose how to receive your reward: "Default 50%/50%" or "Power Up 100%". As of this moment, choosing Default 50%/50% is the better option. But this can change over time. Check our post to know more.
  3. Upvote wisely: When upvoting, wait at least 30 minutes after the post is published to maximize your curation reward. Also, make sure not to upvote too much too fast so as not to drain your voting power.
  4. Know your Steem, Steem Dollars and Steem Power: Steem and Steem Dollars are the 2 main currencies here. Convert and power up more Steem into Steem Power so you can have higher values on your upvotes.
  5. Have Fun and Enjoy!
