Introduction: Oh dear! Does Steemit need a crackpot like me? ;-)

Hellooo!
Who am I? Honestly, aside from my name, Kevin, and being a 52 y/o single dad, I'm not sure!
The following article will probably give you the impression that I'm something of an old crackpot.
That's ok.
My kids share your opinion. :-D
When I wrote the article my four kids were still early to mid teens. Although there is more grey in my beard today, the only other thing that has changed since is the youngest hasn't left home yet. It still feels as though the others live here (if you know what I mean).

While my kids enjoyed some donuts and argued about nothing thismorning I sought justification for the significance of nothing and something in the substance of their arguments ...well actually I found more substance in the center of their Donuts!

For the non-parents and parents to be who may read this you must first understand that as a parent my tendency toward the insane emanates from my children's propensity toward the inane.

Now grab a cuppa and have a sit with me as we ponder one of life's little mysteries...

What is in the middle of a donut?

You can see a hole. Right?

Can you touch, smell, hear, or taste that hole?

No.

Does the hole have substance?

Does the hole have definition without the donut?

If you eat the entire donut what happens to the hole?

The hole is nothing. Right?

Not quite. The hole DID exist. Does it still exist?

Does the hole need the donut to exist.

Is this co-dependance?

...And further to the hole thing:

If the hole is nothing then it must be something.

Anything that has definition must be something.

Nothing has definition so nothing must be something.

Like the round donut...'there is nothing in the center of the donut'.

The 'nothing in the center of the donut' is a hole therefore it is something.

There IS something in the center of a donut!!!!!

Is it true therefore to say that nothing is possible because nothing is something?

Or am I simply making something out of nothing?

I don't know about you but my head hurts now so amidst the school holiday chaos I'm going to seek respite in the laundry (a place where children are seldom found as they may be required to do something if caught there).
