Hello, Steemit.
My username is younitedstates. I wish to remain anonymous as I started this blog to write about my experiences being in a violent relationship for 16 years which I don't think is possible to leave.
Although this introduction is about me, I've somehow come to be a stranger to myself. I hope to remedy this with writing.
My partner is like Jekyll and Hyde. He suffers from schizophrenia and autism. One minute he is a complete gentleman and sweetheart, a soul as pure as Lady Diana or Mother Teresa. Without warning he's a sociopath and cruel like the most deranged serial killer, losing all sense of reason or connection with reality.
This is the life I've chosen for myself. I feel perpetually heartbroken, but I have no self pity, because I continue to choose this life.
I do have interests. I enjoy looking for fossils, metal detecting, photography, singing, and making comedy Youtube videos. I've made maybe a hundred videos. 
I don't understand much about Steemit yet, but look forward to learning more, and reading about everyone's lives, interests, and endeavors.

what do you think makes you choose the life you described? Is it solely your decision or are you in any way forced or otherwise coerced to maintain it? What's your motivation through it all?

Thank you for your question, cutedust. I think I just tell myself I choose it because I've read lots of books about how our choices create our reality, but I haven't figured out why. I don't know why I believe it's a choice when I would swear in court that it's impossible to leave. I'll think about your questions. Thanks again.
