Introducing myself on steemit

Hi everyone, I have always thought of communities where I can express myself and in doing so earn at the same time, I've ponder all over the place and I couldn't get one to trust , then my friend came up with steemit. Different thoughts came to mind, Is this real or fake??, genuine or just a site trying to pull traffic. I summoned courage and decided to give it a try.
