Hello lovely people :)

Hi all
My names John and I've just quit my job within an industry I have worked in since leaving college (18 years ago). My wife and I are jacking in the 9-5's (well, 8-6), selling our stuff and going to see the world.
The main catalyst for this mammoth decision was losing my dad last year - he'd just turned 60 and was the fittest person I knew. He'd regularly cycle 100 miles of a weekend and was constantly involved in something sporty. He was diagnose with cancer just before his 60th birthday and died 3 weeks later. It was a terrible shock, but its shown me that life is indeed very precious and can be whipped away in the blink of an eye.
So, notices have been handed in, possessions sold and we're heading off mid September - starting in Africa for 3 months
I just wanted to reach out and say hello to everyone within the Steemit community. I'm very new to this, but looking forward to learning as I go and meeting lots of like minded folk along the way :)
