A short investment story/tangent

in investing •  7 years ago  (edited)

I met a gentleman from Israel a few years ago, he was with a billion dollar hedge fund looking to make investments in Ireland. In ireland a lot of funds came over after the crash and bought up property for pennies. Anyway as we spoke he told me something pretty interesting. Never sell. Never sell. And that was their strategy. Buy low and never sell.

After we spoke we kept in touch and I went with him to view some properties he purchased. He bought hotels, apartment blocks, retail spots. And land in areas of dublin that were thought of as lower class. In total he spent about €170m.

Today those lower class areas are yielding the most returns in rental income. Rent has been making new highs almost every quarter.

So I implement his advice in my strategy. I am always buying to hold. especially when everyone is panicking regarding these cryptos . Ignore all that youtube shit, all that jim cramer bullshit. Yelling at the camera. Do your own analysis. You have got to take these youtube investment advice as a pinch of salt. Most of these dudes telling to buy they have already bought low. They are playing on your FEAR OF MISSING OUT.

yes there are some who provide great service to the community but be careful.

This is totally unregulated, you have to remember no one has your best interest at heart except you. Exchanges dont care about you, those youtubers dont give a fuck about you. Do your own analysis is all im saying

Just understand what you're trying to do when you first get into the market. Are you a trader or are you a long term investor?

Whatever you do, don't let a poorly executed trade turn into a long term investment. No, that's just a shit trade and you will lose money overall doing this.

very true mate.
