Samuel is completely right. Property gives you a great appreciation. And if you rent it out, it even gives you an income as well. I’m actually one family house owner, so obviously I don’t rent it since I live there. I’m just not that type to live with strange people (I mean by owning two family house I would have to rent out one floor). However, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to own another, for example two or more family house to rent it out completely. As a matter of fact many people are against owning any property. One of the reasons could be they are not the type to fix anything. In my case, as a small construction owner, it’s actually very convenient to own a house. I’m able to do anything myself. Especially in NY, where any services are really expensive when it comes to house work.

He is right..I think real estate investing is the way to go because

  1. it is a huge industry that has a never-ending demand
  2. it is able to benefit from things like inflation unlike other investments
  3. in addition to the extra income, you are able to build equity and obtain something tangible (a property)
  4. real estate investments work for you, not the other way around.

I think you should search for real estate investment properties with your budget and look at the returns to get an idea of the profitability of real estate. Look at the neighborhood average rental income and cash on cash return especially.

Great point about renting your property. Today rentals are very high and with “still” low interest rates it’s usually very profitable. On the other hand people buying house with their mind set to live in it for 10, 20 years will eventually get very nice appreciation as well. And with fiat coming down the toilet, it’s also a great anti inflationary asset. Rent to someone or own and live in it is definately a win win situation.

I remember my comment from the morning on the same video. Even after I posted the comment I kept thinking about it and I think I might have rushed a little bit.

I only considered one aspect of the reals estate business and made my comment about how it was only for those who had the big bucks. I completely forgot that their is more than one way of investing in an asset. One can sell houses for commissions, be a financier ...... be in one of the several associated aspect of the business.

I am sure there are people with small initial investment making a decent profit. But one thing is for sure - all good investors are decent researchers first and investors second.

Investing in property is a better way of creating passive income for yourselves by renting the said property and receiving monthly rentage income, and also property investment always appreciates in value over a longer term. And it gives a good return on investment @louisthomas

Real estate is the old, proven way to possess valuable, pretty stable wealth, which is capable to provide passive income, but it is - on the other hand - very sensitive to governments changes in law. Governemt can always take it from you. There is no way to hide your (for example)house from them.
Stay mobile. Stay with things easy to cary in suitcase.

Some invested in property because of it appreciate in profit overtime, invested in estate and is one of the viable and opportunities for investors because of long term profit thank for this topic @louisthomas.

Any mistakes sorry

i think your thinking will shine this time! carry on

Property does come with some downsides and risk that weren't covered here at all. What if your tenant won't pay rent or causes damage to your property and is unable to pay for it? It can be slow to get them evicted depending on the laws where you live. Also, your property can be damaged from construction defects or from bad maintenance. It will not necessarily be easy to prove who is at fault. While your property is under - sometimes very expensive - repairs, it will not generate any rental income.
