Avoiding my mistakes. We all know that you need to have a diverse or diversified investment portfolio. Most people like gold and silver, #steemsilvergold and some people like investing in the stock market, real estate, and other physical assets. One asset class that is becoming popular is the virtual asset. Virtual assets like bitcoin, a Ethermin, and steamit.

In the past I've invested in beanie babies, comic books, baseball cards, loose gemstones, diamond earrings, and mid state silver coins from 2013. ( in the green mint boxes, unopened) In the 17th century people invested in crazy things like tulips and beaver pelts. Just like haters are gonna hate, speculators are going to speculate.

Leave a comment and an up vote and you will get .100 Steemit dollars! Tell me what your craziest investment is or was.

So far the value of my beanie baby went from $500 to three dollars, my US silver Eagles went from $43 to $18, my gold coins went from $1800 to $1280 per ounce, and I could never find anybody interested in buying loose gemstones or diamond earrings.

My husband's box of Michael Jordan Wheeties! I so laughed when I saw It! Hey he was a kid like in his teens...he collected a lot of stuff like that, me, never anything when I was young I ate my double bubble and was happy!...He has had a few fails so he is pretty good now...only invests. :)

My collectable Mickey Mouse watch I thought would be worth a fortune, give it to my daughter, now it's priceless!

Well, we all make poor choice with investments, you just have to hope you make more good choices than bad by the end. The craziest investment (if you can call it that) that I have is vintage toys like tin litho toys. I spent too much probably but it was years ago, and you can't go back in time. Thanks for the post!

Thanks for your up vote and comment, check your wallet and tell a friend!

Everything has its ups and downs. I've been in and out of silver stacking and just got into cryptocurrency. I think long term (10 years plus) both silver and crypto have a decent upside.
On another note I view both as somewhat of a hobby and I enjoy stacking silver and I enjoy researching cryptocurrency. Neither will likely make me a millionaire or maybe I'll get lucky and they both will. Either way I enjoy both and its a more solid plan then going to the casino!

Back in the early internet days I bought etoys.com which was a hot internet stock. Well they no longer exist. And neither does my investment. Complete loss.

Sorry about your stock market dot com loss. Check your wallet! Thanks for the up vote!

Good post and I appreciate your honesty! Followed and Upvoted

As for me, my craziest investment...
About 8-10 years ago Gamestop stopped selling Gameboy games. They offered insane deals on them. As time went on they became more and more % off. Over the course of a month or two I visited probably 20 different gamestops and bought about 200 games for very cheap. I sat on them until last year, and started selling them on Ebay. I have done very well, with a few rarities going for around $100 a piece! I regret not buying more!

Thanks for the up vote and check your wallet. Do you remember Atari game system? I used some of my birthday money to buy ET but that was the worst game ever. Now the game is highly collectible, I'm pretty sure I just threw it away.

1st off thanks for the .1 steemit dollar gift! For a newbie with with hardly any SBD and SP it means a lot :-)

And yes I remember Atari, it was actually my first gaming system. It made me the gamer I am today! I also had E.T. and while I didn't fully understand what I was supposed to do in the game I did enjoy it lol. There is a documentary movie (its actually still on Netflix) where they try to find a massive deposit of E.T. Atari games that was buried in a landfill in a desert. Was a pretty cool movie, it was called Atari Game Over.

My worst investment was a 7 bedroom 3000sq ft. hone in Niagara Falls that we zoned for a B&B with a store front for my wife's artwork. My wife took a B&B course & we spent 10 years fixing the place up. The 💰 plus time wasn't worth it. We put too much value in the place. My wife changed her mind & didn't want to run a B&B now we are finished the renovations. We sold for alot less than we invested to my wife's close friend & never was paid on the 3rd mortgage we held for her. She was a friend so we decided to let it go. My wife still has a good relationship with Amy her friend who is running the place well. This was 2 yrs ago and in the meantime we started investing in silver & now cryptocurrency so we feel we are on the right track.

Now thinking about it I made a few bad investments that are just as bad or worse. This was my last one I hope. I find I learned to remember the good memories over the bad. I feel my wife &I are closer, stronger with more love towards each other. Our experiences together built us up spirituality I'm proud to say.

Normally real estate is a good investment, but when you have bad partners you can lose your ass. Thanks for the up vote and check your wallet!

I remember when people used to line up outside the store the day the new beany baby was released. The key is to sell at the right time.
I collected stamps with my dad as a kid then colleected silver dollars. Haven't pulled them out in 10 years so don't know if they have any valueor not.
I was also big into hockey cards which were big gora while. I had complete sets that were worth $1500 that are now only worth $200 if you can find a buyer. Ends up because they were popular during thoses years it is easy to find lots of them

I guess the value of anything can drop if there just no interest anymore or the market just gets flooded and no ones buying. Trends change and not really something i like to do...I like to well used to buy stuff to sell before it became popular like teenage mutant ninja turtles many years ago i bought some when they was new tested the water then bought more no one had them in the uk.. then slowly they started to pop up everywhere that was my cue to move on. to the next thing which was pots and pans as i saw a gap in the market. i used to have a small stall on a market and sold lots of things in my time..Now i turning that to metals but only one's where the design changes every year. as they hold there value. and do not follow spot metal price unless you buying the current releases. i don't really do investments in non physical things and not gonna start now. but trends come and go and bubbles burst. so i like to stay flexable and try to spot trends but my biggest mistake was trusting people i thought i couild trust.

Great story! Are used to have G.I. Joe action figures but got rid of them for free without knowing what the market value was.... Check your Wallet! Thanks

Thx also followed ya....Yeah i don't think we had G.I joe in the uk but did have action man.. When i was a kid my mum gave away aload of my stuff 100's of cars and huge box of lego. I was mad as hell.
But what really hurt was my handheld games they got stolen in storage when we was between houses and just not replaceable and guess they'd be worth serious money now.. but i missed playing them the most and was before the days of atari and the consoles arrived. The stuff was in tea chest and two went missing other had all the photo's in..
Sucks as we'd rather have lost the one with silver in. but did teach me that anything can go at anytime. so enjoy it while you have it.

I've been very lucky and managed to make a bit of money selling my old star wars toys on eBay as well as my original pokermon card collection. I'm not really an investor, more of a hoarder but every so often the junk that was gathering dust in my mother and fathers attic turns out to be worth a pretty penny.

My worst investment was a previous girlfriend, when it was time to move her on, she took half of everything I had. So you could say I lost 50% of my net wealth with 1 stupid move(I didn't cheat, the stupid move was getting with her in the first place).

Bloody hell mate, that is one of the better stories we've heard so far. Check your Wallet and tell a friend cheers.

I see no mistakes on Your table,
markets go up and down over time,
one man's trash is another man's treasure,
there is value and perceived value in selling.
The same old is called vintage/retro in another market.

thank You for hopping over from #minnowsfaucet nice to meet You
