Record-breaking DDoS reportedly delivered by >145k hacked cameras

Last week, security news site KrebsOnSecurity went dark for more than 24 hours following what was believed to be a record 620 gigabit-per-second denial of service attack brought on by an ensemble of routers, security cameras, or other so-called Internet of Things devices. Now, there's word of a similar attack on a French Web host that peaked at a staggering 1.1 terabits per second, more than 60 percent bigger.

thats crazy omg

indeed... that's why it makes sense to run IoT via a blockchain, should make it much harder to make a botnet out of it

Chinese uni students hacked the Tesla car too recently i read posted on steemit the other day.

I was listening to discussion of this on the Security Now podcast. There's not much you can do to defend against an attack like that. The big problem is the billions of devices going online with weak security. IoT devices may not get updates to fix the issues and owners may not even notice they've been hacked.

I think that when some lawsuits start getting thrown around people are gonna have to audit this, this is a really big problem.

Just started using the DTEK50. omg i can feel the security on this device like a warm blanket on cold winters night.

I hadn't heard of the DTEK50. Hope it works well for you, but no security is perfect

true, no security is perfect but this phone sure puts up a good fight. ^^

oh and i forgot. maybe you wanna see my post why i made the switch.

I saw that. I don't keep up with all the phone news, so I missed this one. I may buy another phone next year. With luck I can buy it with Steem Dollars :)

Blackberry solved this problem with their unique chips that override Android commands. I can use app that i grant permission to with out actually giving up the data they crave. Its very cool.

Blackberry should be selling their tech to Samsung or Sony and their devices would be an iPhone killer for sure.

My DTEK does everything my Sony Experia did but faster and more secure. Very smooth operating since its same as all android but its a BB hybrid OS. Unhackable unless you got in your hands.
