Hello,
I'm PAPAJO. I've been around the crypto space for a while now and have seen several interesting and amazing things come from the technology. I am an avid Bitcoin user and I enjoy mining altcoins to trade for bitcoin / other altcoins so much so that I think that I actually embarrass those who I spend time with because when we go out, I ask everyone / place of business if they accept bitcoin (real money) for payment. I say it just like that too. They want to know first what I mean by real money and ask what’s wrong with the US Dollar (sadly I am still a tax slave) (Still working on that part). I get to explain the whole Federal Reserve and what it actually is and it’s like every time their eyes open wide as if they had no idea. Some places would say no to accepting Bitcoin as payment, but they wish they could. I then go on and explain how they can, and how very easy it is. Others simply don't even know what bitcoin is and I go into detail (most likely too much, I'm in the I.T. industry and can get into the weeds at times). Once they know what it is, they are like sign me up! Right now in the world, people are looking for places to put their money. More like, they are looking for sound money. I digress.
The purpose for my post is to provide ideas around using the blockchain as a foundation for building an IOT infrastructure. Or, really, anything IOT. Right now in the world of technology, one of the top rated technologies out there is IOT. For those of you who may be wondering IOT = Internet of Things. This is where machines or devices communicate with each other, no human intervention. Sounds like some sort of scientific futuristic technology, but it isn't. It’s here and very real. Companies are starting to implement it left and right because it removes the human from different tasks that would otherwise require hours of training and time to do simple tasks.
Most people here may or may not already know that IOT or the thought of IOT came from the blockchain. And that’s great! Again, I really want to just throw ideas out for people who may have a need or want to get into the world of IOT. Companies are out there writing their own code to try to create an IOT infrastructure / platform from the ground up. The thing is, they don't have to. Start with the blockchain as your foundation. Think of it as a decentralized database that you can build on top of and let it run. Think of this from a supply chain point of view. Item is created at a factory. With its creation, it is assigned a token, a block, or piece of a block that is coded specifically for that item a no other. That item then gets ordered and shipped to a warehouse where it is then sorted by robots who know exactly what that item is based on its hard coded information. The sorting is done, and the item is shipped to a retail store and placed on a shelve. A customer can pick that item off the shelf and walk on out of the store. Upon leaving the store, the item will register with scanners or some sort of devices at the exit of the store and the person taking the item. The person would then get a notice on their device that their crypto currency wallet was charged the amount of the value of the item. All of this is device / items all communicating with each other all the while updating the blockchain which is maintaining a public record of every transaction from manufacture to the customer walking out of the store.
That’s just one of many ideas. It is amazing what you can accomplish if you remove central banking and allow the true free market to work as it is designed. Thomas Jefferson was the first to come up with the idea of a decentralised currency. Those around him obviously thought otherwise. Let me know what you think! IOT is one of those unknown areas in technology that so many amazing, yet frightening things can come from. Forgive the writing errors, it's been a long day and it's only getting later as the night goes on.
