What's in a name: IOTA Cryptocurrency

in iota •  7 years ago  (edited)

The thought of an IOT cryptocurrency , if you ask me, just goes to show that we need to add the Terminator to our speed dial list. Skynet is coming people.... lol

This Post is...

  1. not about Skynet's "inevitable" birth
  2. about how suitable IOTA is (in reference to the cryptocurrrency)

IF you don't know what I'm talking about you'll need to head over to www.iota.org to find out or you can just read their whitepaper .

IOTA
So IOTA ,as you've just found out is a new digital currency for IOT (Internet of Things) applications...

I find the name quite intriguing because...

  1. It contains IOT which is the specific purpose it was intended for... And since any other digital currency ends up getting the "altcoin" nickname... It gets even better... Iota is a crypto currency, an altcoin for IOT i.e. its an Internet Of Things Altcoin. Taking only the letters in CAPS we have "I", "O", "T", "A" ... concatenate and voila "IOTA"
  2. The word iot or iota refers to the 9th letter of the Hebrew alphabet... moreso the smallest letter in the Hebrew alphabet
  3. The altcoin also has zero transaction fees. Zero is a pretty small number right? It's an iota-sized amount/transaction fee... Okay maybe I forced that a lil...
  4. IOTA also supports infinitesimal (extremely small) transaction amounts. They call them micropayments in the whitepaper > iota=small & small=iota so....

That's all I had for now...
