Why IOTA still has a "low" Market Cap?

in iota •  7 years ago  (edited)

Many people thought why IOTA still has this small Market Camp even there is this new innovative technology like Tangle, non-fee transactions and much more stuff. I talked about them in another post 4 days ago.

But why is IOTA not going to the moon? And they "only" have a Market Cap (23.8.2017) from 2,5 Milliards?
Let's have a look at it.

  • First of all, IOTA is only listed on one big Exchange Platform (Bitfinex), there are also some small Exchanges like Bit 520 and ITOA Exchange but they have just really a small volume.
    So there is a huge potential. If IOTA got listed on other big Exchanges like Bitrex or Poloniex a lot of more People are going to trade or invest in iota. So the volume will probably rise.

  • Every Cryptocurrency needs time to establish in the world. For example, Bitcoin was released in 2009.
    So it needed 18 years to go to go to a volume like 70 Milliards. For sure now crypto currency is more popular and everything goes much faster but still every thing needs time.
    Then IOTA is only 2 years old.
    Also, there are not a lot of places where it is possible to pay with IOTA. This will just come over time when restaurants, stores and another company's trust in IOTA.

  • Probably the biggest part is there is a lot of development which only started.
    Let's have a look at the roadmap:

Light Client -> Completed
Swarm Client -> Status: Research / preliminary stage
Improved networking -> Stage: Active Research
Automated Snapshotting -> Stage: Active development and testing
Permanodes -> Stage: Alpha Testing
Flash Network -> Status: Mid-stage development
Masked Authenticated Messaging (MAM) -> Stage: Beta Testing
Private Transactions -> Stage: Early development
Oracles -> Stage: Advanced development
Stress testing -> Stage: Planning and preparation
Public Simulations -> Status: Largely completed, awaiting peer review
Sandbox -> Stage: re-launch mid-April

So we see there is a huge stuff coming in the future! Every thing has to be tested or built.
So there is huge potential but also a risk because they probably also face a lot of problems, keep that in mind.

For sure there are Points which I could list up. But I think I got the most important ones.
I hope you understand now more about why the Market Cap is not higher. (Still, 2.5 Milliards is a huge step!)
Have a nice day and feel free to resteem, vote and follow me for more content.

Nice post. I think your best reason is the exchanges that it's not listed on but don't forget the project is for artificial intelligence so it will take time before we can use it on the machine market. I don't know if adoption is also for the community. I think it won't be used for paying your bills rather in the industrial world.

What is artificial intelligence? Sorry if I ask this nooby question. :)

Nice post @goodmindset . You forgot to mention infinite scalability, which is a major improvement over the current cryptos, and also, quantum proof, making it's secure against quantum attacks. Also to quote a thread, whose name I dont remember, "If other coins are 2030, IOTA is for 3020." I guess that explains it. :-)

Yeah that's true. Thanks for your thoughts.
