iPhone 12 Pro has been in sale from a long time since its release. Some users of Apple flagship claim that the new devices are experiencing aggressive battery drain problems, despite the phone being on standby. Apple is famous to optimizing their hardware and software very well and that provides a good standby time in terms of battery life.
The problem was raised on an Apple’s discussions forum where a user complained that the new iPhone 12 Pro was showing some battery drainage problems. The complainant with username Master26A said that despite his/her new iPhone 12 Pro being off most of the time, the battery was draining at a very fast speed. The user turned off 5G and that proved to have a heavy impact on smartphone battery. Still, it did not affect the battery drainage problem.

Other users have also came forward in response to the post and reported the same issue with their newly bought iPhone 12 Pro. Some users have shared their battery graphs along with their screen on/off statistics. When the screen is tuned off for some hours at a stretch, the battery drain continued at the same pace.
Apple has reduced the battery size on new iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max compared to iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Despite the small battery size and more power-hungry 5G connectivity, all iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max users have not reported any such issue with battery drain.

Apple is yet to acknowledge the issue. Considering that a large number of users have came forward to report the issue, the problem could be fixed through a future software update.
Apple might be planning a surprise hardware announcement on 8th December
We have recently seen the launch of iPad Air, iPhone 12 and Apple’s first M1-powered MacBooks in the last few months, but the company might be planning a surprise hardware announcement next week.
A leaked internal memo obtained by MacRumors says that Apple may have one more product announcement in store this year. The memo which was acquired through a reliable source states that Apple informed service providers that it has AppleCare-related changes planned for Tuesday, 8th December at approximately 5:30a.m. Pacific Time.
Apple has also advised technicians to start preparing for new product SKUs, new/updated product descriptions and new/updated product pricing and the report points out that the same memo was sent to Apple service providers before the launch of iPhone 12 in the month of October.

Its for sure that Apple might not be holding another virtual event for its surprise product launch, and MacRumors think that, instead, the company will issue press releases introducing the new products. Apple has done this in the past with the new 13-inch MacBook Pro in May 2020, for instance, and the second-generation AirPods in March 2019.

MacRumors also warns that in the interest of tempering expectations, it is possible that the announcement might be for a minor accessory, or there might be no announcement at all.
