Eamonn Ceannt immersed himself in Irish culture joining the Gaelic League while mastering the Irish uilleann pipes. He was such an impressive player for Pope Saint Pius X at the Vatican in 1911. While he was sworn into the Irish Republican Brotherhood by Seán MacDiarmada in that same year and soon became a Commandant of A Company, Fourth Battalion.
