A suspected Islamic State militant has been arrested in Turkey accused of planning an attack on a U.S. military jet at a NATO air base, local news reports. Russian national Renat Bakiev had allegedly planned on crashing a U.S. aircraft by using a drone to disrupt its flight at Incirlik air base in southern Turkey. Bakiev was detained after police surveillance showed him scouting the nearby city of Adana with the aim of carrying out his attack, local news reports.

Bakiev had also used a messaging app widely used by ISIS sympathisers to appeal for 2,800 Turkish Lira (£610) from other militants to buy a drone, Adena police said.
During police interrogations, Bakiev admitted to previously having made an attempt to attack U.S. forces at the base, but that this had been unsuccessful.

Bakiev, who is said to have spent time in Syria, had also planned to attack the local Alevi community in Adana.
The Alevi religious minority is an offshoot of Shia Islam who are regarded as heretics by ISIS.
A Turkish news agency reports that Bakiev had told police that he needed to kill Alevis because he considered them 'enemies of Allah'.
NATO base: The U.S. Air Force uses Incirlik as a staging post for the air campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq
The U.S. Air Force uses Incirlik air base as a staging post for the air campaign against ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
ISIS have used armed drones to deadly effect in Iraq and Syria, converting commercial drones to carry small explosives.
The airbase has been at the centre of a diplomatic row between Germany and Turkey in recent months over access to NATO soldiers at bases in Turkey.
Repeated refusals by Ankara to let lawmakers visit German soldiers at Incirlik made Berlin relocate those troops to Jordan.
German MPs had also been prevented from visiting another airbase, however, a delegation is now set to arrive in Konya, in the central Anatolian region, next month.
Ankara has detained more than 5,000 Islamic State suspects and deported some 3,290 foreign militants from 95 different countries in recent years, according to Turkish officials. It has also refused entry to at least 38,269 individuals.
any stopping these nut cases?
