Introduction

Greetings.

I am a professional freelance translator from Arabic into English. I mainly translate classical Islamic books in theology, law, spirituality and economics. Furthermore, I teach both Arabic and English and I have been studying Arabic along with Islamic theology, law and other sciences for almost seventeen years. I'm also qualified to teach a few texts in those sciences. I've been running a blog since 2008 (http://mahdinnm.blogspot.com) and I've been doing a podcast via YouTube for the past nine months (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCu2Eym4k3BpaRCOKjz0wyWw).

The only social media platforms I use are Gab and Minds and I recently started writing articles at medium.com.

As an English-speaking Muslim who has moved from the Anglosphere to the Muslim world, I'm trying to provide a different perspective:

a) We Muslims need to learn our faith systematically and in depth, and that includes the Arabic language, the theology and the law. Hearsay is not good enough.

b) We need to improve our character and our manners. We need to stop playing the victim and blaming everyone but ourselves for our problems. Personal responsibility is empowering and it is the only way forward.

c) Islam in the West is a failed project. The Muslims who initially moved there did so for worldly reasons, not for their faith, and therefore few blessings have come to bear. No hard feelings, but it's time to admit that Islam and the West (or Europe and the Anglosphere) are not compatible and that the whole endeavor of Muslims in the west is simply not going anywhere . The only successful Muslims in that part of the world are out of the mainstream, out of sight and out of mind.

I explain these matters in detail in my forthcoming book, called The Big Step: How to Survive Islam in the Anglosphere as well in my podcast and blog posts.

Please feel free to send me a message or ask questions. I do have a pretty full schedule but I will do my best to get back to you.
