I was born in St. Croix, U.S. Vrgin Islands. As a child and young adult, I mostly experienced visiting relatives, church, school, etc. Other activities were limited. After living off island for 25 years, I returned to my home. I now live life with a different mindset...I will forever be a tourist. By that, I mean, making the most of my life...here. When a tourist comes to vacation in St. Croix, they jam pack as many activities to enjoy their visit. I am lucky enough to live in a Caribbean island...vacation destination 24/7. Why not appreciate this blessing and live life as a tourist? This mentality has allowed my husband, Sammy and me to see many landmarks...for example the Historic Ham's Bluff Lighthouse featured in this picture. This was a short and intense hike thru the bushes (there was a clear path) constantly going uphill. It was worth every step to see this old rusted light house and the beautiful views from the top.
The Ham's Bluff Lighthouse is located in the west side of the island, Frederiksted and was built between 1913 and 1915 while the island was owned by Denmark. In 1917 St. Croix along with St. Thomas and St. John (The Danish West Indies) were sold to the United States and the U.S. Coast Guard took over the lighthouse. Later in the 1990's they seized operating the light house and it's now considered a historical landmark.

It is great that you are living your lives like a tourists lives. We all are nothing but tourists in this world, and our lives are a gift of God.
It's been some time since I went fishing or swimming or wandered around hills and mountains. I know the feeling, how it feels. The feeling of being one with nature and the rush of excitement.
