As it usually goes, the newest ceasefire did not last long as rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel on Thursday. This comes again after the recent killing of an Islamic Jihadist commander earlier this week. More than 450 rockets and mortars were fired at Israel, and several waves of airstrikes carried out on Gaza in two days of fighting, with the two agreeing to a ceasefire that lasted about a day.
The fighting left 34 Palestinians dead and 111 injured, while 63 Israelis needed medical treatment.
Israel said 25 of the Palestinians killed were militants, including those hit preparing to launch rockets.
As no surprise to anyone, Israel retaliated to the rockets fired on Thursday and it seems that the ceasefire urged by Egypt and the UN has broken. However, Israel isn't doing its usual means of retaliation suggesting that they see the Islamic Jihadists as formidable and do not want to draw Hamas into the fight by striking major compounds.
