The Silk Road Odysse : ISTAMBUL TURKEY

in istambul •  7 years ago

The sad part is that many historical places and pieces of architecture are crumbling. The government does a mediocre job in keeping them preserved for future generations. Last time I walked the old city walls, there were fire marks everywhere. People go there to burn fires and drink. Then leave their trash behind and the fire leaves terrible marks on the thousands years old walls. Nobody protects them... The “sinking” part is real and sad. The emerging part is not so good either. There is construction everywhere. And no regulations. So many beautiful buildings simply get demolished to make room for tall and mostly ugly architecture that ruins the street looks and the skyline of the city.
