Caporalato e neoliberismo prima parte

Questa mattina ho deciso di cominciare la giornata con una passeggiata in campana.
Il bello vivere in campagna è che si può approfittare, in stagione, dei numerosi frutti della terra, messi gratuitamente a disposizione dei volenterosi.

Infatti conosco i proprietari di alcuni campi che tutti gli anni vengono coltivati a pomodoro, e così, quando essi hanno finito la raccolta, mi permettono di andare a raccogliere ciò che rimane, che altrimenti andrebbero a marcire.
Devo ammettere che ogni anno rimango stupito della quantità di pomodori che, per diverse ragioni, di fatto non vengono raccolti e quindi vanno buttati.

Mi sembra una forma di ingiustizia, da un lato si butta cibo, dall’altra parte del mondo si muore di fame. Se poi pensiamo che, anche nelle nostre città e nel nostro paese, ormai ci sono gravi problemi di povertà, allora ci si può interrogare sulla necessità di cambiare qualcosa.

In questi giorni approfitto spesso di questa marea di pomodori, disponibili gratuitamente, ne sto seccando una grande quantità al sole, in maniere da averne disponibile anche quando non saranno più disponibili, oltre a mangiarli in quantità industriali nelle mie insalate.

Questa mattina, durante la raccolta, per rimanere in tema di ingiustizie, ho ripensato al tema del caporalato.
Triste realtà, uno dei lati oscuri del sistema capitalista, nella sua versione peggiore, il neoliberismo che predica la massimizzazione dei profitti, ovviamente incurante del modo in cui ottenere tale obiettivo.
La manodopera è la voce più importante delle spese di un’ azienda, ed è normale nella logica neoliberista, cercare di comprimere il più possibile i salari.
Un fenomeno strano è che gli italiani non vogliono più fare quel genere di lavoro, dunque l’unica strada rimasta è quella di ricorrere allo strato sociale più debole e indifeso della società, i migranti, spesso clandestini, che non hanno altra scelta che accettare una forma di schiavitù pur di sbancare il lunario.
Un circuito vizioso predatorio, il sistema approfitta dei più deboli per avvantaggiare una minoranza.
E’ chiaro che direttamente o indirettamente siamo tutti responsabili, non solo l’imprenditore che apertamente approfitta della situazione senza il minimo scrupolo, ignorando che coltivatori onesti riescono a lavorare nella legalità, senza essere per forza “fuori dal mercato”, ma anche la grande distribuzione ha evidenti responsabilità.

Sentivo un’intervista di un coltivatore che metteva in luce come questi grandi acquirenti, approfittano della loro posizione dominante, per innescare vere e proprie corse al ribasso dei prezzi, che induce in tentazione molti coltivatori a ricorrere ai “moderni schiavi”, per cercare di aumentare i propri profitti o in alcuni casi per sopravvivere.
Può accadere, in alcuni casi, che i coltivatori siano strangolati a tal punto che devono vendere le loro merci ad un prezzo inferiore a quello di costo.

La grande distribuzione, nel suo ruolo di intermediario fra produttore e consumatore, trae i maggiori profitti, molto più di chi realmente produce i prodotti; anche questo è tipico del nostro sistema, dove gli speculatori vengono maggiormente ricompensati rispetto a chi lavora veramente.
La grande distribuzione a sua volta risponde alle necessità del mercato, di offrire prezzi bassi e competitivi.

Ammetto personalmente che, molto spesso, quando devo acquistare pelati o passata di pomodoro, scelgo il prodotto che costa meno e forse inconsapevolmente divento complice del sistema stesso che tende alla schiavizzazione per ottenere i propri scopi.
Se pretendiamo prezzi sempre più bassi contribuiremo a questa lotta fra poveri, fra chi non arriva a fine mese e cerca di risparmiare quando fa la spesa, e coloro che pur lavorando non hanno riconosciuto un giusto salario e un minimo di diritti, e magari loro stessi andando a fare compere saranno a loro volta costretti a scegliere il prodotto più conveniente, di fatto alimentando la loro stessa prigione.

In tutta questa situazione il grande assente è lo stato, che ogni volta sembra cadere dalle nuvole, come se fosse un qualcosa di nuovo, mentre parliamo di un problema vecchio sul quale lo stato non ha mai mantenuto le promesse.
A che serve fare una legge se poi nessuno si preoccupa di farla rispettare?

Work and slavery first part

This morning I decided to start the day with a walk in the bell.
The beautiful life in the country is that you can take advantage, in season, of the many fruits of the earth, made available free of willing.

In fact I know the owners of some fields that every year are grown in tomato, and so, when they have finished the harvest, they allow me to go and collect what remains, which otherwise would rot.
I have to admit that every year I am amazed at the quantity of tomatoes that, for various reasons, are not actually collected and therefore have to be thrown away.

It seems a form of injustice, on the one hand you throw food, on the other side of the world you die of hunger. If we then think that, even in our cities and in our country, now there are serious problems of poverty, then we can question the need to change something.

These days I often take advantage of this tide of tomatoes, available for free, I'm drying a lot of it in the sun, in ways to have available even when they are no longer available, as well as eat them in industrial quantities in my salads.

This morning, during the gathering, to stay on the subject of injustices, I thought about the issue of hiring.
Sad reality, one of the dark sides of the capitalist system, in its worst version, the neoliberalism that preaches the maximization of profits, obviously regardless of the way in which to achieve this goal.
Labor is the most important item of a company's expenses, and it is normal in neoliberal logic to try to squeeze salaries as much as possible.
A strange phenomenon is that Italians do not want to do that kind of work anymore, so the only way left is to resort to the weakest and most defenseless social layer of society, migrants, often clandestine, who have no choice but to accept a form of slavery in order to make ends meet.
A vicious vicious circuit, the system takes advantage of the weakest to benefit a minority.
It is clear that directly or indirectly we are all responsible, not just the entrepreneur who openly takes advantage of the situation without the slightest scruple, ignoring that honest farmers are able to work legally, without necessarily being "out of the market", but also the great distribution has obvious responsibilities.

I heard an interview from a farmer who highlighted how these big buyers take advantage of their dominant position, to trigger real downward price races, which tempt many growers to resort to "modern slaves", to try to increase their profits or in some cases to survive.
In some cases it may happen that growers are strangled to such an extent that they have to sell their goods at a price lower than cost.

In its role as intermediary between producer and consumer, retailers derive the greatest profits, far more than those who actually produce the products; this is also typical of our system, where speculators are more rewarded than those who actually work.
The large distribution in turn responds to the needs of the market, to offer low and competitive prices.

I personally admit that, very often, when I have to buy peeled tomatoes or tomato sauce, I choose the product that costs less and perhaps unconsciously become an accomplice of the system itself that tends to enslavement to achieve its goals.
If we demand lower and lower prices, we will contribute to this struggle between the poor, those who do not reach the end of the month and try to save money when shopping, and those who have not yet recognized a fair salary and a minimum of rights, and maybe they themselves going shopping will in turn be forced to choose the most convenient product, effectively feeding their own prison.

In all this situation the great absent is the state, which every time seems to fall from the clouds, as if it were something new, while we are talking about an old problem on which the state has never kept its promises.
What is the point of making a law if nobody is worried about making it respected?
