Anniversari Storici: Special Olympics // Historical Anniversaries: Special Olympics [ITA - ENG]

Cari amici lettori,

per oggi metto da parte il mondo dell’architettura perché mi preme parlare di un altro importantissimo argomento, e lo farò attraverso la mia rubrica “Anniversari Storici”. Ricorderete che, fra i primi post che ho pubblicato, ce n’era uno dedicato alle Special Olympics e all’Associazione Andromeda, di cui faccio parte come volontario… ecco, ieri al prestigioso Teatro “Francesco Cilea” di Reggio Calabria si è tenuto lo speciale concerto per il 50° anniversario di questa magnifica associazione!

Sono state presenti personalità importanti, persone autorevoli come il sindaco della città di Reggio Calabria e tantissimi cittadini reggini. Non sono mancati i momenti ironici grazie allo spettacolo offerto da un ventriloquo. Ma i protagonisti assoluti, oltre chiaramente i fantastici musicisti dell’Orchestra Filarmonica Giovanile, sono stati loro, i nostri magnifici atleti, che si sono anche divertiti a suonare dei piccoli strumenti di accompagnamento all’orchestra.

Ragazzi, davvero non trovo le parole per descrivere l’emozione di assistere ad un grande evento come quello di ieri sera. Riempie d’orgoglio vedere la sala piena di gente che si emoziona e ammira il talento dei nostri atleti speciali, e la nostra causa in generale.

Ecco, una parola ce l’ho sicuramente ed è GRAZIE! Grazie a questi ragazzi per l’impegno che mettono nelle loro attività, grazie per i sorrisi più calorosi che ogni giorno sanno regalarci, grazie alle famiglie che ripongono la loro fiducia, oltre che in questo grande progetto in generale, in primis, nelle grandi capacità dei loro figli e, poi, anche in noi, tecnici e volontari, che li seguiamo e supportiamo con tutto il nostro cuore.

Ancora un immenso grazie, quindi, ai miei colleghi tecnici e volontari che, come me, si dedicano anima e corpo a questi stupendi ragazzi, un grazie anche a chi invece si impegna nell’amministrazione di queste associazioni e che quindi ci mette tutta l’anima in questo progetto così nobile, un grazie va ovviamente anche al teatro della nostra città metropolitana che ha permesso che questa serata avesse luogo.

Ultimo, ma non certo per importanza, un grazie di cuore anche alle personalità importanti che hanno partecipato alla serata e che, con la loro semplice presenza, l’hanno resa ancora più in luce al grande pubblico dentro e fuori il teatro.

Quasi dimenticavo, lo scopo della serata, oltre che celebrare questo importante anniversario, è stato quello di destinare il ricavato in beneficenza per dare un importante supporto economico ai nostri ragazzi affinché possano affrontare le prossime “Special Olympics” e dunque, un grossissimo grazie, questa volta da parte loro, va a voi che siete venuti e avete contribuito a permettere loro di realizzare il sogno di partecipare alle olimpiadi.

Che dire, non smetterò mai di ribadire che sono veramente tanto orgoglioso di essere, nel mio piccolo, parte di questa grande realtà, e questo ha reso la mia emozione ancora più grande ieri sera. Intraprendere questo cammino è stata la scelta più saggia che abbia mai preso e sicuramente la più appagante per l’anima.

A questo punto non mi resta altro da dire, se non il mio ormai consueto grazie per il tempo dedicatomi, nonché il solito, mai scontato, auspicio che abbiate gradito questa lettura. In particolar modo in questo caso, spero abbiate colto l’importanza e la meraviglia dell’impegnarsi in progetti di questa portata, perché, vale la pena ricordarlo, queste realtà abbracciano, non solo il territorio italiano, bensì tantissimi Paesi nel mondo!

for today I put aside the world of architecture because I want to talk about another very important topic, and I will do it through my column "Historical Anniversaries". Recall that, among the first post I published, there was one dedicated to Special Olympics and Associazione Andromeda, which I participate as a volunteer... here, yesterday at the prestigious "Francesco Cilea" Theater of Reggio Calabria was held the special concert for the 50th anniversary of this magnificent association!

There were important personalities, authoritative people such as the mayor of the city of Reggio Calabria and many citizens of Reggio. There were no ironic moments thanks to the show offered by a ventriloquist. But the absolute protagonists, apart from the fantastic musicians of the Orchestra Filarmonica Giovanile, were them, our magnificent athletes, who also had fun playing small instruments to accompany the orchestra.

Guys, I really can not find the words to describe the thrill of attending a great event like last night. It fills with pride to see the hall full of people who are excited and admires the talent of our special athletes, and our cause in general.

Here, one word I definitely and it is THANKS! Thanks to these guys for the commitment they put in their activities, thanks for the warmest smiles that every day can give us, thanks to the families that place their trust, as well as in this big project in general, in the first place, in the great skills of their children and, then, also in us, technicians and volunteers, that we follow and support with all our heart.

Again, a huge thank you, therefore, to my fellow technicians and volunteers who, like me, are dedicated body and soul to these wonderful guys, thanks also to those who are committed to the administration of these associations and that therefore puts us all the soul in this project so noble, thanks also obviously goes to the theater of our metropolitan city that allowed this evening to take place.

Last, but certainly not least, a heartfelt thanks also to the important personalities who participated in the evening and who, with their simple presence, have made it even more visible to the general public inside and outside the theater.

I almost forgot, the purpose of the evening, as well as celebrating this important anniversary, was to allocate the proceeds to charity to give an important financial support to our children so they can face the next "Special Olympics" and therefore , a big thank you, this time on their part, it goes to you that you came and you helped to allow them to realize the dream of participating in the Olympics.

What can I say, I will never stop saying that I am so proud to be, in my small way, part of this great reality, and this has made my emotion even bigger last night. Taking this path was the wisest choice I have ever taken and certainly the most rewarding for the soul.

At this point I have nothing left to say, if not my now usual thanks for the time dedicated to me, as well as the usual, never predictable, I hope you have enjoyed this reading. Especially in this case, I hope you have grasped the importance and the wonder of the commitment to projects of this magnitude, because, it is worth remembering, these realities embrace not only the Italian territory, but many countries in the world!

...and that is an inspiration for each of us, I embrace you all!
