Ci sono voluti molti anni, prima che mi decidessi a realizzare questa cover dei Queen.
L’avrò cantata migliaia di volte dal vivo ma non mi ero mai deciso a farla in studio.
Questo brano, per me ha un significato importante, commuovente.
Forse è quello che rappresenta, ad avermi bloccato.
Solo chi comprende a fondo Freddie Mercury può capire le mie parole. Sorrido quando gli onniscienti fanno fantomatici paragoni con il grande Freddie su questo o altri brani, io lo so, io lo sento, lo vivo.
Quando registrò questo brano, aveva un filo di voce, divorato dalla malattia. La sua voce era diventata sottile, si sente che arrivava alla nota con l’ultimo fiato. Un grido disperato alla vita... Lui che in passato aveva osato... e tanto!
Eppure, emaciato, stanco, anche in quelle condizioni... Cantava e tutto si trasformava in un capolavoro eterno, il leone ruggisce ancora.
Lo sa gli mancano pochi giorni e in questo brano mette tutta la sua voglia di vita.
Grazie Freddie porterò con me quello che hai lasciato, spero di averti reso onore... The show must go on...

My 15-year old daughter is obssessed with Queen after she watched the movie. She has been learning to play all their songs on a keyboard, which she learned to play on her own.
So, I, who was never a Queen fan, have been hearing every tone hundreds of time a day :)

Beh diciamo che è il mio lavoro e ho cantato Freddie per molto tempo però quello Chen dici è vero, c’è anche da dire che quando ami un cantante si tende a mitizzarlo e renderlo divino. In realtà era una persona normale con i suoi difetti canori, questo non toglie la sua grandezza...
