Some photos from my trip to Izmir / Turkey.
First, I want to show you "Human Rights Monument".
There are two important signatures on this monument. The first is Olof Palme's signature. Olof Palme, as you know, was a Swedish Prime Minister and Social Democratic Party leader for a time. For those who want information on his life and assassination: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olof_Palme
The other signature on the statue is Willy Brandt's signature. Willy Brandt was a German statesman who was leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) from 1964 to 1987 and served as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (West) Source is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willy_Brandt
And another monument...
Izmir, Turkey's most free and secular city. In fact, according to some people, that is the last castle of secularism in Turkey.
An interesting pub in Izmir.
This is the historic elevator. Get a ticket and go out on the street. If you do not want to walk uphill ...
I saw many old houses there. Some houses have been restored.
