Want to Be Digital Nomad? Get Started with Location Rebel
hustletoparadise (64) in work • 8 hours ago

Many times when I'm traveling around the world, I get the same question over and over again:

How did I get started with this digital nomad lifestyle?

Even before my digital nomad lifestyle started ... it all began with a shitty corporate job at Target when I was living briefly in Minneapolis, MN. I hated the team that I was working with and found the culture quite fake and not genuine at all. Perhaps I was on a different vibrational energy level, so maybe that's why I simply just didn't fit in.

January 2012 hits, and I'm mysteriously "let go" ... so I collect my unemployment and head off to Central America to go on my dream surf and backpack trip between February 2012 to June 2012. That trip was simply epic! Meeting lots of different people who were also going through similar personal journeys of discovering oneself and the world around them. I knew I wanted to figure out a way to make sure that my location independence would continue. But how do I do that?

Cue Location Rebel, when I joined in June 2012.

And hence, this Location Rebel review that I'll outline below.

Prior to joining Location Rebel, I always had done web design, but I only did it for "free". I always thought of it as a fun side hobby ... but never thought of it as a way to make money on the go.

Luckily, joining Location Rebel, allowed me to meet a whole slew of other online digital nomads from copywriters, to SEO marketers, to other web developers as well ... all with the similar goal of being location independent while making money traveling around the world. What an awesome community!

Long story short ... I was quite active in the community for the first several years when I joined ... staying in touch with several of the members, and even getting to meet them on my travels.

One of them, a great copywriter by first name of Karen, runs the copywriting blog, Untamed Writing. I designed her logo and eventually got to meet up with her first time in person in her home town of Edinburgh, Scotland in summer 2017.

(Karen and I enjoying the so-called "heat-wave" in Edinburgh, Scotland)

Another was a member living out of Finland, and I got to run into him in the seaside town of Porvoo.

(Mathew and I staying warm in Porvoo, Finland)

Overall, joining Location Rebel, allowed me to build up digital nomad connections, that continues to grow each time that I embark in another journey.

If you want to know the "specifics" of what is included, check out my extensive and "long" Location Rebel review.

Are you a digital nomad? If not, do you want to become one?
