Jackson Chameleons in Kula, Maui

This big Jackson was climbing around on a tree outside my house. Its really cool to watch them eat. Their tongues move at lightning speed even though they walk really slow. We see them around all different sizes from tiny little buggers to great big guys. I sell them as pets to people because they are a invasive species and I hope that by selling them it will have a positive impact on the native population of birds and other impacted wildlife. Not everyone knows but Hawaii has one of the largest incidences of extinct and endangered bird life. For example the Palila, one of Hawaii's rare honey creeper birds is incredibly endangered due to loss of habitat. They depend on the unripened seeds of the Mamane tree which has been cut down to less than 5% of its original population. Photo on 9-20-17 at 10.43 AM #5.jpg
