The college was set up in 1970 by the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance of the legislature of Pakistan. Its first bad habit chancellor, Mafiz Uddin Ahmad (PhD in science, University of Illinois, Chicago) took up office on 24 September 1970. Jahangirnagar University was formally propelled on 12 January 1970[4] under the Jahangirnagar Muslim University Ordinance, 1970[2] and this day is seen as University Day.
