Bowman reads a sign on the door that says push on it and it will sound an alarm and open in 15 seconds. It's an EMERGENCY EXIT, like the sign says. And he says he was trying to get the door open so he could go vote.
So what did he do? After reading the sign on the door, ABOUT the door, he turned to his left and yanked down the fire alarm...
Which, btw, he knew was connected to all the other buildings' fire alarms. Everyone on the Hill knows that. So his defenders are wrong in claiming that he was only pulling the alarm in THAT building and that it didn't affect the Capitol.
Bowman didn't try to open the door with the sign on it that tells you how to open it. He turned away to his left and yanked the alarm on the wall... knowing it would sound in all the congressional buildings, including the Capitol. But he will get away with interfering in the function of congress... unlike the J6 people, who are in jail for doing just that.
He was trying to delay the house vote long enough to get the senate vote done first, because he wanted the House to be bound to the Senate’s terms on the budget deal. House is Republican, you see, but Senate is Democrat.
