The Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) is the combined military of Jamaica, consisting of an Army, Air Wing and Coast Guard. The JDF is based on the British military model, with similar organisation, training, weapons and traditions. The JDF are responsible for defending Jamaica and its territorial waters, and engaging in national development projects such as engineering works and disaster relief. The JDF also engages in international peacekeeping operations and provides support to law enforcement agencies to maintain domestic security.
