PhP2CSS (1k) example

in janesondergrond •  2 years ago

this line of loaders - which are as well examples of "this would be gud submission" but mostly passtime while the local hole doesnt try to fry our brain with localholeness

PhP2CSS , AlleyCat (the director) came up with the idea of "what to do in a browser" after we saw videos of revision doing something called "colour-ins" on a demo compo festival event and thought

MAN THATS LOW INSPIRATION

The point here is that you cant use javascript , only html + css, generated by php or pure and the limits are 256b 512b 1k 2k 4k

we checked 64k but a php script that's 64kilobytes and does nothing but compute to expand seems to pass the standard 30 second limit somewhat - (the limit before the server says "takes too long" and abandones processing to move on to the next script on the stack (or whatever its called b/c these things are still "in queue" wether you believe that or not)

also, any script that is generated from 64kb of php and has moving css kills the i5 which is the strongest cpu we have , chances are it kills a lot more than that b/c css isnt quite optimized

but THAT is something you can do in a web browser

The baseline here is the devrig which is a celeron cpu a gtx 970 (so probably threejs would run better than heavy css animations) and 16mb of ram (ssd ofcourse) and firefox b/c

the reasoning is that if chrome claims to be the fastest

then its best to use the slowest as a ruler

there

so we DO

its just this hole getting in the way all the time

and we're already broken

the php code is less than 1k with 0123456789 filling to it but at this point it was already peaking the celeron cpu (transparency is tuff for cpus clearly)

we only have a few of those but since its what we call "flat"coding (= no prefab frameworks like phaser or threejs or AGK) its fairly interesting

so many years ago we would have said fun

but fun does not exist

someone killed that, we'd like to have a private convo with that person one day

for now

as you can see

we DO, we dont just link demos we think are awesome

but loader wa loader da

and the site is the site

if we get in the money and out of belgium its very likely at least one game gets finished

if we dont

then we really dont see the bother

:)

thats it

happy recession year

the oracle said this is the first year of echt-vanvoortelachen

it called it the first crumbling

if you do, this counts for galmeetsdemo too so thats 50 steem, which is sadly a sad amount of dollar thse days but we stick to the original, after all

most democoders code for coding

not for cash

as it should be in demoland or you would get "products" from the line based on what people want

not on self-expression, which means we would have left the realm of art

ZD wants more but SE wants stuff like fractals and collatz and all that coolness which is static so it could certainly run for the 4K-line of php2css

maybe even the 64k tho we still havent figured out how to procedurally generate a minotaur with inline php code

if anyone knows the genetic code compressed to 64kb for minotaurs or elves

please demonstrate :)))))

et voila, even after a night like THIS , thats how long it take to chill (and a keyboard ofcourse)

submit by posting and linking it here or sending a mail to the sites

any of the sites but preferably [email protected] (or the respective galmeetsdemo@ or anytning)

it WILL be checked

the 50 steem is there

but we dont have the massive audience the colour-in people have

too bad huh

something about artists and paint tho

we would never call ourselves artists

we certainly aint painters
