To all CMDRs out there and curious people that have heard about this game, today is an important day unless you have a big grudge against, like the Federation. Damn Feds! as we all celebrate the Empire Day, which is the recognized day the Empire got recognized as a superpower apart from the Federation. Pretty much the Imperial equivalent of 4th of July back when the USA existed near the 21st Century, when the separate autonomous nations existed together before the Third World War and the Federation came as the aftermath to avoid further issues in planet Earth.
I am still venturing in the void, but took this old picture before going out of the bubble. To all of my imperial fellow, CMDR Ronmasteh o7 you!
For the curious people having no idea what this is about, I'll drop a brief explanation below if curious about the game and/or the empire!
Elite Dangerous is a space adventure, trading, and combat simulation video game developed and published by Frontier Developments. Piloting a spaceship, the player explores a realistic 1:1 scale open world galaxy based on the real Milky Way, with the gameplay being open-ended. The game is the first in the series to attempt to feature massively multiplayer gameplay, with players' actions affecting the narrative story of the game's persistent universe, while also retaining single player options. Elite Dangerous is the fourth game in the Elite video game series. It is the sequel to Frontier: First Encounters, released in 1995.
There are three major factions, the Empire of Achenar, the Galactic Federation, and the Alliance of Independent Systems. Roughly speaking, the Federation is a slightly more dystopian and more corurpted version of the 20th Century United States of America, the Empire is a rebirth that closely resembles of the Roman Empire, and the Alliance is loosely based on 21th Century's European Union.
Left to right: Federation, Empire and Alliance
The Empire, officially the Empire of Achenar, is a galactic superpower and hereditary monarchy. The current reigning Emperor is Arissa Lavigny-Duval. The Imperial Palace, seat of the Emperor, is situated on Capitol in the Achenar system.
Although a peace treaty has existed between the Empire and the Federation since 2382 CE, there have never really been any peaceful relations between these two old enemies. The Empire despises the Federation and everything it stands for, and vice-versa.
The Empire is less technologically dependent than the Federation, choosing to keep and employ slaves for the work which machines would usually perform in other parts of the universe. The Empire is also a proponent of human cloning, a topic which the other factions find abhorrent and have officially banned within their own jurisdictions.
Imperial society is based on a cliens system - much like ancient Rome - and strictly stratified, with people being able to move between strata based on money, patronage and influence. It values both status and honour very highly. Whilst it is acceptable to flaunt wealth, treating people well is a question of honour - and this includes slaves. Having an unpaid debt is seen as utterly dishonourable - an honourable Imperial citizen would sell themselves into slavery to clear a debt they couldn't otherwise afford.
The Imperial Law is seen and enforced by Senators who themselves are above the law. They can order executions, and can even kill people themselves, though sometimes (rarely) they may be held to account for their actions by the Emperor. In the Empire very little is illegal, but many things are frowned upon, like excessive use of narcotics.
Imperial design puts an emphasis on the glamorous, glorious, and aesthetically beautiful, with extravagance in abundance. Everything in the Empire looks impressive, from their cities, to their ships, right down to the clothes worn by Imperial subjects.
