Taking Out The Trash In Japan

in japan •  7 years ago

Taking out the trash is such a chore in Japan. Eveything must be sorted into burnable, plastic, cans/bottles, too large to burn and a few other categories that I don't bother with.

Trash must be put in bags sold by the city that cost about $.50 each. larger items require a payment sticker to be placed on them, an ironing board for example.

Once you have everything sorted you can then take it down to the community collecting space for pick up. It should be covered by a net so as not to let the crows have a party with your garbage.

Oh and if you put trash in the collecting space that you didn't pay to have it disposed of, no worries, it will just sit there and age like a fine wine or cheese, someday to be used by an aspiring artist!
