Triggered! Amusing Unintentional “Racism” in Japan

in japan •  7 years ago  (edited)

Due to the brevity of the topic. I was gonna share this on Facebook,

but have almost completely withdrawn
so I thought it would be a shame to dive back in too much.

Anyway, I was cleaning the house and came across this racist hot pot ordering me to cook today. So #triggered right now! Ugh!

Not only is it racist, it seems to be sexist as well! As I turned to continue cleaning, I could have sworn I heard it say “That’s right, whity, get back in the kitchen where you belong.”

On second thought, the message could be prescriptive in nature. Like, how do we solve this problem? I know! Cook whity.

Almost 8 years here in Japan and still getting a kick out of the “Japanglish.”

Thanks for stopping by. Of course this is all in good fun and it’s not really racism, for those a bit slow on the take. All the same...

I’ve got my eye on that pot...

Sometimes I feel so oppressed in Japan I just want to scream. Arrgghhh GAIJIN SMASH!

(heh I always get a kick out of Japanglish too)

Lols @ "japanglish"
No pan telling me what to do 😂

Love it! And I'm sure it's not intentionally racist. In fact, I bet the color of this hot pot is ... white. Duh.

And having heard plenty of this and other unintentionally humorous Japlish for many years, I'm sure that, to the Japanese ear, it simply sounds like an entirely appropriate name for a white hot pot.

So, just get back to your kitchen appliances and cook whity!

That is some meme with the red haired lady. I could only imagine the garbage that comes out of her mouth when she gets "triggered"

First time I see the term "Japanglish" JEJEJE

nice kafka pic.

Sure. I use the same name on Steemit chat.

Wow! What a funny post, I was kind of scared when I first saw the word "racism", not know he was kind of playing around, anyways, you've got a wonderful blog here man. 😘

That's a rice cooker. Are you presuming that I like rice? How dare you?! I'm offended, and that's all that matters. Three days suspension for you, sir!

Cultural clash of languages.

As a USAian, I know that I am one of the lucky people, since our language is great, I mean the greatest, no one's language is as great. And our culture, let me tell you, USAian culture it's bigly, covfefe.

Nice post.

Cute. Send it to South Africa, where they really are doing that.
