We all have the same problem when planning of visiting a foreign country. The language! Don’t fret. I’ve got you covered. I am not an advanced learner though but living in Japan for about a year has taught me a lot of things and learning basic Nihongo is one of them.

(Sumimasen.)

Excuse me or I’m sorry.

(Konnichiwa.)

Hello!

(Toire wa doko desu ka.)

Where is the toilet?

(Ikura desu ka.)

How much is it?

(Eigo de onegaishimasu.)

English, please.

(Nihongo ga wakarimasen.)

I don’t understand Nihongo.

(Daijoubu desu.)

It’s okay!

(Doumo arigatou gozaimasu)

Thank you very much!

(Oishii desu.)

It’s delicious!

(Watashi wa Firipinjin desu.)

I’m a Filipino.

There you have it. I hope you’ll be able to communicate with the locals with these basic sentences.
