ITADAKIMASU

in japan •  7 years ago

Just as Christians pray before meals, Japanese say "ITADAKIMASU".

In English this means "I will give your life".

Foodstuff, whether meat or vegetable, is life.

By giving their lives, we are alive.

"ITADAKIMASU" will tell us about it every meal timing.

Even Japanese people do not understand so far.

When you travel to Japan, I hope you not only adapt to customs but also feel the underlying sincerity.
