To my Steem Crew!
Finishing up my business trip to Japan, I decided to share a few things we ate. It is my first trip to Japan, actually, my first time leaving North America. Traveling from the great city of Detroit!
What a great country this is, the respect, the cleanliness, and especially the fact my 6 foot, 210 pound frame makes me feel like an NFL linebacker walking through the streets on downtown Nagoya.
Here we see the typical American post of his meal. With all others watching and wondering why a picture is needed when everyone in the world has had a bowl of Ramen. Not this guy, not me, this was my first time trying the dish. My assumption was this would be a lite meal, a meal that would power me through my workout in one hour. The only powering this dish did, was a straight to my kids size double bed. Never the less, it was delicious!
Now I must share, I am a vegan by nature. Not a strict vegan (as you can tell...). I do not do it for the animals or to sound like a hippie. I do it because American meats are tainted with only God knows what. And I am not rich enough to ensure I am buying the purist of foods.
At least I started my day off right with some fruits, tomatoes, Japanese cucumbers, and some cereal bread with some red bean paste in between. Later I was told the bread with bean paste was a traditional breakfast meal.
Good ol'fashioned pork cutlet with curry! Nothing crazy here, just loads of fat and plenty of quick digesting carbs. The perfect recipe to weight gain... and happiness. That is what confused me this week. I know fat mixed with sugar is a recipe for being belts in the big and not so tall section. Yet, everyone here is fit, it made no sense. What the Japanese have they I certainly don't, is will power.
Even the booze was better tasting here! Maybe the 12 drafts I had before this helped though.
More to come in the future.
Cheers!
-Bill
