I went to see Ueno Daibutsu. Ueno used to have a giant seated statue.

Currently Ueno Daibutsu is this, Daibutsu's face fell at the time of the Great Kanto Earthquake. It is the current figure. Ueno Daibutsu has been accustomed to many of the disasters, as it is introduced as a spot of passing pray as not falling any more and popular with students.

Kinakomochi, Ueno Daibutsu seemed like a very peaceful place. The surroundings are lovely and one with nature. Where was the face of Daibutsu before it fell. You had mentioned that there once was a statue. Did the statue break leaving only the face? Some times having the face close can be more meaningful to some. Thank-you. I loved your post! :D

Oh, I am so sorry. War is so destructive and unnecessary. Using the metal from the body is so sad for the people. The Ueno Daibutsu should serve all of us as a reminder that we must live in peace!
