DIY decoration for New Year

in japanese •  7 years ago  (edited)

Japanese would hang a ring decoration on main doors or inside cars during New Year for greeting the God of New Year (年神様、Toshigamisama in Japanese). White & red are the main color in those traditional decoration, which ring means "reunion", white means "pure" and red means "auspicious".
I should make by myself for the centre every year because I cannot buy a bigger one in Hong Kong=.=
Last year, I used dried glass and pink Paeonia suffruticosa (牡丹、botan in Japanese) to make one, as shown as below:

For the new one to next year, unfortunately, I should use Christmas decoration for the ring base because dried glass is out of stock until January =.=
And...
I finished it after 1.5 hours!!! Yeah!!!
