I went to my favorite Japanese restaurant (an izakaya or Japanese pub) in Eki Mae Dai ichi biru (Number 1 Front of Station Building) in front of JR Umeda station in the center of Osaka with friends. There are three such buildings numbered one, two and three. The two basement floors are a rabbit warren of small bars and restaurants crammed full of office workers in the evenings and at lunchtime. We ordered many things including shirako (fish sperm) tempura, anago (sea eel), sashimi, grilled duck, two kinds of fish roe, and udon noodles. We drank beer, whisky high balls, shochu with hot water, umeshu with hot water and a very good Nihonshu (sake) called "Akishika" (Autumn Deer). After that we went to a standing bar.
