This is a kappa that appears in the book "Hometown Seventy Years" written by retrospecting Yanagida Kunio's own life.
This is Tengu.
He comes out and moves certain time from his hut.
I’m not sure you know the name Tengu and kappa though. They are Japanese traditional creature.

著書のひとつ、故郷七十年に登場する、河童の河太郎(がたろう)と河次郎(ガジロウ)が水中からで出てくる仕掛けがあったり、天狗がいきなり上からスライドしてきたりと、盛りだくさんwww
意外にもちょっとたのしんでしまった。
もち麦はどうやら体にいいらしく、そして太らない！たぶん…
