So after our first day of surfing we set our alarms for an early start yesterday and we were in the water by 6.30am. The break is a 10 min walk from our hotel. Cant really call it a hotel but for 15$ a night you get an aircon room on the side of the busiest road in Java with a call-to-prayer speaker just outside the window. Its called Daun Daun and the great this is it's pronounced Down Downs - a very fitting name for this tired and run-down accommodation but the staff are real nice and we always stay here just for fun.
Surf was smaller today and the tide was a little too full so we had a hard time getting any good waves. The photo sellers were in their regular spot so they captured every mistake...:)
Food from Danny and Giggie was awesome as usual. This time we invited a couple from Switzerland that we met in the water. They were complaining about the food at their guesthouse so we let them in on the secret kitchen. Giggie prepared fresh sashimi and more sate as it was our fave. No food pic this time but here we are post-feast.
Today we got another early start and scored a few good waves before packing the boards in Danny's car and heading for the main break we are here for - Sarwana. Sarawana is a little community on the seaside that is quiet and charming. Thete are no cars as its separated from the main road by a river with only a suspension bridge that is just big enough for a motorcycle to cross. So no traffic noise except for bikes and most people just walk everywhere. It's really a charming place and we are staying in a nice homestay.
We explored the area around sarwana but decided against afternoon surf. The wind was on the waves and it was big and messy. So we just went for a hike around the headland to the next bay and back.
Tomorrow morning the fun starts. I'm Jobiker and I'm surfing remote waves in West Java. Peace
