Stagea update – no more silver wing mirror!

Ive thrown myself into working on the stagea lately, tidying up bits and pieces that have been bothering me for a bit 😊 This past weekend I have fixed up the tape under my mirrors [yes tape, yes I know tape doesn’t fix rust lol, but I can cover it so it doesn’t rust more for now and later me can deal with it [or just get new doors] and changed my wing mirror back to white.

So, storytime... After going to collect my car after a major service, I was driven to my mechanics to pick it up and bouncing around the car ‘yay! Stagea coming home! Woo! Can’t wait to see my car! Yay!” so happy, and rounded the corner into the street to see my Stag parked on the side of the road with a huge side swipe, damaged guard and mirror hanging off by its cables, I went from 100% happy to 100% panic in about half a second, trying to jump out of the sunroof and side window and undo my seatbelt all at the same time.
Fast forward and after a few false starts I found a mirror [ I originally sourced an s2 mirror after being sold as an s1, it has the smallest changes in how it mounts and it absolutely does not fit, then I was ripped off by another guy, then finally found one] but in silver. I cut and polished and buffed and surprisingly had no damage on my guard minus a few scratches you cant really see, that SFHC comes in handy :P I dealt with duct tape in the meantime which wasn’t the prettiest but it did the job, so happy to finally source another mirror lol!

I swear I could pull off the door trims with my eyes shut now, this is like the third weekend in a row ive had them off :lol: thanks to @cope for jibbing up the silver/white mirror electrics for me 😊

I figured while I was swapping out the mirror, id do the tape [and start the tape under the mirror so water cant get in there anymore, but thanks to Mr Okimura at Nissan they decided to go with FOAM inside the mirrors to ‘catch the water’, which is why now prettymuch every single stagea has rust there now in varying degrees, unless it has been removed. WHY ?!?!?!?! foam???? -_-

It was easy as well to get the mirrors off, off come the door trims, then there is a plastic cover on the inside of the door parallel where the mirror is, once popped off there are 3 bolts and a clip for the electrics, bit of shimmying and she comes off 😊

Very pleased to be matching again, even though apparently I forgot to take a picture of the end product lol.
